The purpose of the position: To provide SASL Interpreting services within PanSALB and render language-related support to the PanSALB and NLBs.

Requirements: Grade 12 or Matric certificate, Diploma in Language Practice, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in languages.

Competencies: Good interpersonal skills. Customer relationship management. Communication. Database development and maintenance. Basic research skills. Extensive knowledge of SASL interpreting, terminology development, language policy, lexicography, language and cultural institutions.

Key Performance Areas: Provide SASL Interpreting services within PANSALB, at the NLB meetings, and in the provinceson request. Conduct basic research, compile and maintain different types of databases. Research on institutions of higher education, further training, NGOs, CBOs, etc. that offer SASL Interpreting courses and programs conducted.
Research on the availability and use of SASL Interpreters within organs of state. Provide advice to organs of state on language policy development and implementation with a focus on SASL Interpreting. Provide support towards the promotion of the development and use of languages. Support the optimal functioning of the NLBs Division and relevant sections. Prepare and submit oral and written reports defining plans, problems, and resolutions to appropriate tasks presented to management. Process claims from the NLBs Division’s meetings, workshops, conferences, seminars, and other activities. Provide administrative support to the Gauteng Provincial Office. Provide administrative support to the office. Perform ad hoc tasks as and when required.
