PanSALB TO CONDUCT MULTILINGUALISM CONFERENCE  

 The Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) will, from 16 -17 November 2022, be conducting a language conference in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, under the theme “The Furtherance of Multilingualism in South Africa for an equitable future”.  Discussions will focus on the implementation  of multilingualism in the country since the advent of its Constitutional democracy.

Earmarked to be attended by experts in the fields of Translation, Language in Education, Status Planning, Lexicography & Terminology Development, Linguistic Human Rights, Forensic Linguistics and Human Language Technologies, will culminate with recommendations towards the advancement of multilingualism in the country. The conference will underpin the institution’s programmes aimed at contributing towards the Global Action Plan for the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022-2032) to preserve, revitalise and promote the development and use of indigenous languages.
