PanSALB BOARD APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

The Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Board members, effective for a period of five years. This appointment, made by the Minister of Sport, Arts & Culture, Mr. Gayton Mackenzie, is a significant step towards ensuring good governance and leadership within the organization.

With this newly constituted Board, PanSALB is poised to advance its mission of fostering multilingualism and cultural diversity in South Africa. The newly appointed Board members bring a wealth of experience, expertise, and dedication to promoting and developing South Africa’s diverse languages and cultures. Their leadership will be essential in driving PanSALB’s mandate to ensure the promotion and preservation of all South African languages.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to the new board members. We look forward to the positive impact they will make in their roles, and we are excited about the future as we continue to serve our diverse linguistic communities.

The Board of PanSALB held its inaugural meeting at the Constitutional Court of South Africa on 24 March 2025. The meeting was conducted under the supervision of Justice Nonkosi Zoliswa Mhlantla, who oversaw the nomination and election of the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson, as mandated by Section 6(1) of the PanSALB Act, as amended.
