Announcement: Resignation of PanSALB Chief Executive Officer, Mr Lance Schultz

The Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) regrets to announce the voluntary resignation of Mr Lance Schultz as the Chief Executive Officer of the Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB), effective 1 November 2025, as he pursues new opportunities. During his four-year tenure, Mr Schultz led transformative initiatives that have elevated PanSALB’s reputation as a leading advocate for linguistic human rights. His leadership was particularly impactful during challenging periods, ensuring stability, operational continuity, and progress.

During his tenure, and in line with the mandate he was given to turn around the organisation, Mr Schultz, working closely with the Board, played a pivotal role in positioning PanSALB as the strong and credible institution it is today. His selfless leadership and unwavering commitment were most evident during the 2024/25 financial year, when PanSALB operated without an appointed Board to provide strategic direction and corporate governance oversight.

Under his stewardship, PanSALB has grown into a widely recognised linguistic human rights advocacy organisation, both nationally and internationally. The strong intersectoral stakeholder relations he has fostered continue to bear fruit, as reflected in the growing external interest in our programmes and collaborative initiatives.

The Board is committed to ensuring a seamless leadership transition and is in the process of appointing the interim CEO to lead the organisation. The name of the interim CEO shall be communicated to you by the 1st of November via our Board Secretary and or the Communications division.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr Schultz for his dedicated service and invaluable contribution to the advancement of PanSALB’s mission. We also thank you, our stakeholders and partners for the continued support as we move forward in unity and purpose, guided by our shared commitment to promoting and protecting multilingualism in South Africa.
Ngiyabonga, Enkosi, Dankie, Ke a leboga, Ke a leboha, Ndza nkhensa, Ndo livhuwa, Ngiyabonga, Thank you,
