Pan South African Language Board
What a fantastic two-day exhibition we held at JB Marks Municipality to celebrate Youth Day! Young people were bursting at the seams at our exhibition stand, eager to learn that PanSALB is a constitutional institution responsible for protecting their linguistic rights, just as the Youth of 1976 fought to use the language of their choice. Our explanation of Mother Tongue-Based Bilingual Education programme, which involves teaching and assessment for Grade 4 learners in their mother tongue in subjects like Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technology shifted their perception about indigenous African languages.
