Did you know that in 2018, an important milestone was achieved in South Africa when the first group of 52 learners, undertook the NSC examinations in South African Sign Language (SASL) home language? Fast forward to 2025, we are pleased to note that a total of 158 learners, whose first language is SASL, sat for the SASL home language exams. Back to School with PanSALB 🖤As we welcome learners on their first day of school for the 2026 academic year, we would like to take a moment to highlight the Mother Tongue-Based Bilingual Education (MTbBE) programme, which was was rolled out across the country last year.
